About Kevin Donovan

Mr. Donovan has been producing in Hollywood for over 25 years. He started in commercials and has over 300 to his credit. He has been successful with numerous advertising campaigns including Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Isuzu, Ford, Taco Bell and Miller Lite to list a few. His commercials have won many Clio’s and Telly’s.

In addition to commercials Kevin has extensive television experience producing 45 episodes for the first season of "2 For Las Vegas", a series for The Travel Channel and Discovery Networks. He has also worked on numerous episodes of the Emmy winning television series "Home and Garden", a series sponsored by Better Homes and Garden Magazine.

Kevin was involved with the National Geographic Society and produced three short live action features with the Society. The films were not traditional documentaries but were live action educational films for children. The films were used for school classroom education as well as home video viewing. Each film focused on different environmental issues and what the children can do in their own neighborhood to do their part.

In his career Mr. Donovan has had the opportunity to work with some great people including Director Howard Deutch who's films include "Pretty in Pink", "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "Grumpier Old Men". Other talented people include Mikael Salamon, who was the Director of Photography on "Backdraft", "The Abyss", and "Far and Away", and Dean Cundy who was also a Director of Photography on such films as "Roger Rabbit" and "Apollo 13".

Mr. Donovan has also worked with celebrities and stars including; actors Arnold Swartznegger, Chuck Norris, Supermodels Christie Brinkley and Vendela, singer Anita Baker, and professional athletes Emmett Smith, Karl Malone, Dennis Eckersley, and Joe Theisman.

Kevin's strengths are in his abilities to take a project from conception through production. Including budgeting, casting, scheduling, and contract negotiations. He also has strong people and organizational skills and has helped create branding strategies for numerous major national accounts.


Professional History

2012 – to Present I founded La Jolla Creative a full service production company, advertising and marketing company that takes ideas from concept, creates a comprehensive marketing program that includes all media from Television to the Internet. The purpose at k-a-o-s is to help develop individual and unique brand identity and combine it with a target marketing message. We do this by working with clients to identify and position their product or service above the competition with the customer’s needs and wants as the priority. The image they present through a comprehensive marketing strategy has a major influence on the success of their business and the amount of market share they control.

2002 – 2012 InterMedia Advertising where I was their Executive Producer handling all aspects of a campaign from the beginning creative through pre-production, budgeting, scheduling, shooting and editorial. The clients included Clorox, Di-tech, AIS Auto Insurance, US Army, and hundreds of others.

2001 - 2002 Film Garden Entertainment producing the first season of a brand new series for the Discovery Networks and The Travel Channel titled "2 For Las Vegas". The first season called for 45 episodes, which included taping 90 separate couples getting married and having fun in Las Vegas. I was responsible for the overall budget, maintaining the production staff, overseeing the field producers, post production schedule, and segment producers.

1990 - 2001 Commercial Film Production (see attached commercial resume). For the ten years I have been worked in the high end of Television Commercial Production with clients including Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Ford, Taco Bell, Isuzu, Miller Lite, Disney, and CBS. I started at the entry level position as a Production Assistant and have worked my way up through the ranks to Producer allowing me to have worked hand in hand with the largest Advertising Agencies in the world including Foote Cone & Belding, BBDO, Leo Brunett, DDB Needham, and Wells Rich Greene BDDP. The responsibilities in working with these agencies included working with creative directors and copy writers to conceptualize and create commercials idea. Other responsibilities include budgeting the idea, scheduling all elements needed, executing the physical production, which includes hiring the entire crew, and keeping the commercial production on time and under or on budget. At the conclusion of each job I am personally responsible for completing the accounting of all the moneys, P.O.'s and petty cash in a timely manner.

1987-89 US Marketing Corporation a marketing firm for Select/On TV Los Angeles, Ca. Job title VP. of Marketing. Responsibilities included creating training programs, hiring and maintaining a sales force of 45 sales representatives, designed marketing strategies, helped define and set goals with sales managers and heads of technical and other managerial departments. I was also responsible for setting sales and marketing budgets and maintaining the allocations of funds where needed and when.

1984-86 Johnny Alroy Sales/Market by Design Los Angeles, Ca. Job title VP. of Marketing. Responsibilities included designing and creating packaging of products, and cultivating and maintaining national accounts. Products sold were licensed music merchandise from mainstream recording artists. A partial list of accounts serviced included Tower Music, K-Mart, and Target.

1982-84 Cox Communications (Cable Television) San Diego, Ca. Responsibilities included Direct Sales and Marketing, tracking orders from point of purchase through installation and setting and keeping sales goals. I was instrumental in incorporating and implementing new sales and installation techniques that cut cost and increased efficiency for both the marketing and technical divisions.
